The Scarab

I came across this character from an indie company on Instagram. I thought I would I would take a crack at it. I still need to finish/figure out the hands. I’m hoping to ink it this weekend.

Another year, another con

ReedPop’s New York Comic Convention is in full swing.  I just finished day two and have been having a blast, walking around, saying hi to friends that I never see and looking at all the great stuff that’s for sale.  A good convention will always gets my creative juices flowing and so far this has been a good con.  I’m hoping that this year I will actually be able to tap into that feeling and get back to creating art.  I’ve been writing this story off and on for a while now.  I’m planning it as a three issue limited series that will introduce the characters, help build the world that they inhabit and just generally entertain the readers.  There are two more days left of this con, and I hope to start working on model sheets and stuff that I can upload here for your enjoyment.

NYCC Update

Sorry for those who have come back hoping for more pictures of this past weekend’s NYCC but I haven’t been at my computer in a few days.  I hope to have them up by the end of this week.  I also have some video from the Anime Masquerade ball.

New York Comic Con Day One

So despite not having any samples to show I decided to go anyways.  I got together with my friend Andre and we walked around the Javits, checking stuff out, meeting up with old friends, buying stuff and picking up swag.  A good time was had, and

Screaming Tiki Con

Well I am one full weekend past my trip to the Screaming Tiki Con in Cleveland. It was a fun trip to a small con. It was the second year of this con and they still have some kinks to work out but hopefully they’ll keep at it and make this a regular feature on the Cleveland Con scene. The NY Comic Con run by Reed Expo had some growing pains the first couple of years as well but its a great show now.

I spent the entire weekend working the booth for Mask and Cape Comics. I was able to sit down with the writer of Mask and Cape (the story, same name as the book, which I’m drawing) and figure some stuff out that wasn’t clear to me in the script and I also discussed some pacing changes that I want to do with the art. I will be uploading some of my pages from issue 3 as I finish them.

Overall it was a very productive and fun weekend. I took a few pictures and am uploading them here for you to see.

enjoy

I did this for the first issue of Mask and Capes double feature. I tried to play with the perspective to make it really severe. I think I could’ve taken it a bit further.
